Florals and Still Life

The appearance of lilacs by the studio door in June, the lilies, poppies and “nasties” of July, the echinacea and zinnias of August – all inspire Meryl to share the treasures of her garden through her canvases.

“Summertime is glorious in the Northeast Kingdom and gardening is a passion, maybe even an obsession, of mine. I spend hours upon hours in the garden. In the same way every painter arranges a still life or poses a nude, I arrange my plants, flowers and trees taking full advantage of the ruggedness of our rocky land and the sweeping vistas of our Kirby retreat.”
